Manuka Honey, Lemon & Ginger Tea

Ginger, Lemon and Manuka honey, alone have their own natural health qualities, but when combined together, they offer a calming, relaxing drink.

Serves 1

One inch of fresh Ginger Root
1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed Lemon juice
1 tablespoon of Manuka Honey
1 Mug of warm water

With the peel still on, grate the ginger into a teapot or a measuring jug. Don’t worry, you’ll strain the ginger out before consuming! Pour 1 mug of warm water over the ginger and leave it for 2 to 3 minutes. Meanwhile, squeeze the lemon juice and spoon in Manuka Honey into a large mug. Then strain the ginger tea straight into the mug. Stir to dissolve the Manuka honey. Taste it and add more Manuka honey or lemon juice as you wish.

It’s yours and ready to consume. Enjoy.

Variations:
Use a cinnamon stick to stir the Manuka Honey in. The addition of cinnamon will help sweeten the taste, particularly for children. Alternatively, balance the Lemon flavour with a few drops of Orange juice. And finally add quarter of a teaspoon of Cayenne to help further clear sinuses.

Manuka Doctor fan Brian Crawford recently shared with us how he enjoys taking his Manuka Honey.

As well as adding lemon and ginger, Brian likes to add some thyme to the Manuka Honey and warm water.

Brian told us:

I added a grating of root ginger and a tbsp of thyme and made a tea with these and the lemon in a little water sieved then added the honey and left to cool. Cleared my chest infection in 3 days

This sounds like the ideal 'winter warmer' to try during this January cold spell.
